Bowling Green's Festival of Trains, a Renfro Valley Christmas, New Haven's Santa Express, making a storybook, and much more
Festival of Trains Celebrate the 11th annual Festival of Trains with the Friends of L&N Depot, December 1-2 at the Historic RailPark & Train Museum in Bowling Green, featuring model railroad exhibits on O, HO, N, S, and Z scales, nighttime railcar, museum tours, and more. This year the Festival of Trains hosts Toys for Tots and the Bowling Green Jr. Women's Club coat drive. Donate new, unwrapped toys and new or gently used coats for 50 percent off admission coupons good for the entire year. Christmas in the Valley The new 2012 Christmas in the Valley show at Renfro Valley Entertainment Center, A Christmas Guest, is a heart-warming Christmas play with clogging, Christmas songs, and comedy by the Renfro Valley Entertainers. Santa Express Take a trip on the Santa Express to the North Pole at Kentucky Railway Museum in New Haven, every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, November 30-December 22. Cookies and hot chocolate will be served. Children are encouraged to wear their pajamas for pictures with Santa—don't forget your camera! Reservations required; cost $23 adults, $18 children ages 2-12; free under age 2. Day and evening excursions are available. Make Your Own Storybook In conjunction with the "What's Your Story?" exhibit of favorite children's storybooks from the community and the Orlando Brown House collection, children ages 4 and up can come to Frankfort's Liberty Hall Historic Site to write and illustrate their own storybooks, gaining inspiration from the works of Brown family member Margaret Wise Brown, Robert McCloskey, Eric Carle, Dr. Seuss, and other children's authors. Workshops run December 8, 10:30-11:30 a.m.,$5 per child or $4 for Friends of Liberty Hall members. Space is limited to 15 so advance registration is recommended.
