Clean art

The art shown here won last year's Commonwealth Cleanup Week 2000 Poster Contest, organized by the Kentucky Natural Resources & Environmental Protection Cabinet, with assistance from the electric cooperatives' Touchstone Energy®.
This year's winners will be announced in late March. The contest is open to Kentucky students in grades 1-8. County winners receive a $50 U.S. savings bond and state winners receive a $100 savings bond. The state winners' schools receive a $1,500 grant for environmental education. Although the entry deadline has passed for this year, information on next year's contest is usually available in early January. For more information on the contest contact Heather Frederick at (502) 564-5525, ask about it at your school, or use your computer to go to the Web site www.kyenvironment.org/nrepc/cabinet/cleanupposter.htm.

Tell us about your favorite book
Want a chance to become published in Kentucky Living AND receive a $25 gift certificate from Joseph-Beth Booksellers of Lexington? Mail it by March 21 to: Kentucky Living, Favorite Book, P.O. Box 32170, Louisville, KY 40232.
