A wild Earth Day

More than 15,000 people are expected Sunday, April 14, at the Louisville Zoo to celebrate Earth Day 2002. Called "Celebrate the Earth," the outing will feature exhibits about endangered species, puppet shows, and free copies of the 2002 environmental poster showing the Dragonflies of Kentucky.
Admission is free, courtesy of Kentucky's Touchstone Energy® Cooperatives and Toyota, who are sponsoring the event.
Along with the many regular animals and exhibits at the zoo, Celebrate the Earth will showcase reptiles and amphibians native to Kentucky. Open horse
From 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 20, several horse farms and stables in Kentucky will participate in Open Stable Day 2002, the second such event sponsored by the Kentucky Horse Council.
Open Stable Day is free of charge to visitors. This is a self-guided tour where visitors travel in their own vehicles. The day is devoted to helping people see horses up close and learning about the different breeds of horses, different disciplines of riding and driving, horse care, horse training, horse ownership and leasing options, horse clubs, and horse rescue organizations.
Many stables will be putting on special demonstrations of riding lessons, training techniques, stallions available for breeding, and horses for sale. Some stables will have vendors set up for those who wish to shop and some will offer refreshments.
