Easter Eggstravaganza

Easter comes early this year, but there will be no shortage of Easter egg hunts and other fun activities across the state.

Renfro Valley Entertainment Center has been hosting an annual Easter Egg Hunt for more than 15 years, with local community businesses donating candy, coupons to fast food restaurants, and prizes. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held Saturday, March 22, 11 a.m. in front of the Freedom Church located in Renfro Valley Village. Children will be divided into four age groups from ages 1 to 12. Live entertainment begins at 10 a.m. on the Village Restaurant porch. For more information, call (800) 765-7464 or go online to www.renfrovalley.com.

At Kentucky State Parks, you’ll find Easter offerings at 18 different state parks. On March 22, Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park in Mt. Olivet hosts author Leigh Anne Florence and her “wiener” dogs, Woody and Chloe, who’ll autograph their new book from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. in the Worthington Lodge Gift Shop. Children 12 and under can hunt for 4,000 Easter eggs starting at 11 a.m. in front of the Pioneer Museum, which is open to the public with prizes in four categories. The park will also offer an Easter Buffet on March 23. For more information, call (800) 443-7008. Go online to www.parks.ky.gov (choose “Events” tab, then select “March”) for information on all state park Easter activities.

Other community offerings include an Easter Egg Hunt, March 15, at Riverview at Hobson Grove in Bowling Green; Easter Egg-Stravaganza, March 15, at Diamond Lake Resort in Owensboro; Cottontail Express, March 22, at Kentucky Railway Museum in New Haven; Easter on the Square, March 23, in Murray; and an Easter Egg Hunt in City Park at Auburn on March 22.
