The Santa Express

In early December the Santa Express has scheduled several scenic rides through the beautiful Nelson County countryside in the Rolling Fork River Valley. The 22-mile, 90-minute Christmas excursions are the seasonal offerings of the Kentucky Railway Museum in New Haven. On the Santa Express Mr. Claus takes a break from his schedule to visit with passengers making the round-trip holiday excursion from the museum in New Haven to Boston.

Reservations are a must with trips December 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, and 21—$8 for children and $12.50 for adults. In addition, breakfast and lunch rides are scheduled December 6, 13, and 20—$10-$11 for children and $15-$17 for adults. Call the museum for reservations at (800) 272-0152. The Kentucky Railway Museum is one of the oldest rail museums in the U.S. It includes a collection of railroad artifacts and memorabilia housed in a replica of the original New Haven depot. The museum store features books, videos, clothing and collectibles. You can contact the museum by mail at P.O. Box 240, New Haven, KY 40051, by e-mail at kyrail@bardstown.com, and get more info on the Web site at www.kyrail.org.
