Washington Youth Tour attendee selected to serve as Kentucky Derby Festival princess

A 2017 Inter-County Energy Washington Youth Tour attendee was recently selected to be a part of the 2020 Kentucky Derby Festival Royal Court.

Nineteen-year-old Leah Hazelwood, Lebanon, Ky., is one of five princesses to serve on the court. Hazelwood went to Washington, D.C., with the help of Inter-County Energy nearly three years ago.

She is currently a sophomore at the University of Louisville and is dual majoring in Political Science and Liberal Studies.

You can follow Hazelwood and the four other women who were selected to serve on the KDF Royal Court on Instagram

Hazelwood and the other princesses will serve as ambassadors for KDF and are set to attend nearly 70 events over the span of two weeks.

One of the five members of the court will be crowned as the Derby Festival Queen by a spin-of-the-wheel at the annual Fillies Derby Ball on April 4 at The Galt House. Each woman will also receive a $2,000 scholarship.
