2021 FIRST PLACE | ANIMALS: Anna Mae Gabbard of Waneta gently cradles two fuzzy chicks. Photo by granddaughter Angela Byrd, a Jackson Energy Cooperative consumer-member from McKee, who says her granny loves chickens.

Got a knack for photography and capturing Kentucky on camera? For this year’s Photo Contest, we’re on the hunt for beautiful, original photos that fall into one of five categories:

  • Animals

“Some people talk to animals. Not many listen though. That’s the problem.” ― A.A. Milne

Who doesn’t love animals? They’re beautiful, cuddly, majestic.  If you have an awesome picture of a furry, winged, or even scaly friend enter it in this category.

  • Nature

“Heaven must be a Kentucky kind of place.” —Daniel Boone

From its glistening lakes to its beautiful mountain vistas, Kentucky is rife with natural beauty.

  • People

“A portrait is not made in the camera but on either side of it.” —Edward Steichen.

A smile. A look. A moment of connection. There’s nothing quite like capturing a moment in a person’s life.

  • Kentucky Travels

“Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry if with us or we find it not.” —Ralph Waldo Emerson

What place in Kentucky inspired you to take a picture of it? Maybe you traveled near or far to get there but there are many gorgeous places to go in Kentucky.

  • Aerial Images

“No borders, just horizons-only freedom.” —Amelia Earhart

A change in perspective. Finding the bird’s-eye view of a moment or place.
