The Laurel Gorge Cultural Heritage Center in Elliott County will host an Open House on July 8th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Rock painting (fun for all ages) will start at 10:00. CAMILAdventures will guide visitors along the boardwalk on the hiking trails to see the rhododendron in bloom beginning at 10:30. Visitors can enjoy a free musical performance in the center with the Laurel Gorge Mountain Dulcimer Club from 12:30 – 1:30. A poetry reading will be hosted by the Carter County Poetry Society. The center and entry gate will close at 3:00. Anyone who plans to be on the trails beyond that time can park below the entry gate.
