Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Worship Service
The 29th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Worship Service will be hosted by Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 205 E. Short St, on Sunday, January 20, at 6 p.m.
The speaker will be the Reverend Kenneth Golphin, Presiding Elder of the Bluegrass District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. In a pastoral ministry that has spanned 35 years, Rev. Golphin, an Asbury Theological Seminary graduate, has served churches throughout Kentucky and Tennessee.
The service honors Dr. King’s legacy by grounding it in Christian worship (his roots) and in ecumenical and interfaith cooperation (the way he exercised and acted upon his faith convictions). Participants come from a variety of faith communities including Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Sikh, and Buddhist.
The event is free and open to the public.
