A car show will be held from 3 to 6 p.m.\, and military recruiting booths will be on site. The event will culminate in a free concert beginning at 6 p.m.\, headlined by Colt Ford. Special guest Sarah Beth Brewer will open the show. Organizers said the event is designed to bring the community together to celebrate service\, sacrifice\, and hometown pride. \nColt Ford has built a career outside the traditional Nashville system and has become one of country music’s most successful independent artists. The Georgia-born singer\, songwriter\, and rapper has earned five consecutive Top 10 debuts on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart\, including Declaration of Independence\, which reached No. 1 in 2012. His 2014 release\, Thanks for Listening\, also reached the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 and topped the Rap and Independent charts. Early distilling—both legal and illicit—played a vital role in the region’s economy and survival\, while crafts like quilting\, blacksmithing\, woodworking\, and food preservation sustained families for generations. \nThe festival brings these traditions to life through demonstrations\, storytelling\, live music\, local food\, and hands-on heritage experiences\, creating an authentic celebration of Appalachian resilience and community. \nStorytelling is at the heart of the festival\, with scheduled sessions and special guest appearances\, including cast members from the Discovery Channel’s Moonshiners and other heritage voices who help bring Appalachian history and culture to life through personal stories and shared experiences. \nHillbilly BikeFest is a high-energy Saturday feature of the Beattyville Appalachian Memories Festival\, drawing motorcycle enthusiasts from across the region. The day centers around FRYDADDY’S Old School Bike Show for Charity\, a celebrity-judged\, open-class motorcycle show inspired by the large rally events like Sturgis. All bike styles and builds are welcome\, and judging is done blindly\, keeping the focus on craftsmanship and originality. Special appearances by well-known Moonshiners personalities add to the excitement\, creating a lively atmosphere that brings a strong\, engaged crowd to Main Street. Proceeds from the bike show benefit Shriners Hospital for Children. \nThe afternoon continues with the annual Shiners for Shriners Charity Ride\, a guided group ride along the Moonshine Trail through some of the best riding roads in eastern Kentucky. DESCRIPTION:📣FREE BOOKS!📚 \nDid we get your attention? Free Book Friday is BACK at International Book Project on May 29th\, but with a few changes. \n🛍️Instead of a box\, shoppers may now select up to one bag full of books per shopper. Please bring your own bag\, and we request that it be standard-sized. If your toddler can fit in the bag\, it’s too big! We want to make sure that everyone has a fair chance to get books. \n⏱️Hours have changed slightly! Free Book Friday will now take place from 10am-6pm\, and there will be no limit on the number of books you can take after 5pm! \n📚We have a wide variety of children’s books and classroom sets of books that will be available at this event. Let your teacher friends know this is a great time to stock their classroom libraries! \n❓Why are we giving these books away\, anyway? We’ve gotten this question a lot and wanted to clear things up! We are a nonprofit focused on promoting literacy worldwide by providing donations of books to organizations around the globe. However\, our warehouse is small\, and the types of books our partners need are always fluctuating. Sometimes we need lots of kids’ books\, sometimes we need more medical textbooks\, and so on! Since we don’t always have room to store every book we may possibly need\, we use Free Book Friday to give back to our community while also rotating the stock in our warehouse! This allows us to be as responsive as possible to our partners’ donation requests\, and also lets us thank our incredibly generous community for their ongoing support of our mission. \nAll of the other information regarding Free Book Friday remains the same: No purchase is necessary\, but monetary donations are greatly appreciated. Only the books on the tables and blue carts marked “FREE” will be part of the giveaway. The books on the shelves will be for sale and all proceeds directly support IBP’s operations.
