DESCRIPTION:The city of Madisonville will host “Madisonville Salutes\,” a full day of patriotic celebration honoring military service members\, veterans\, and their families\, on Saturday\, May 16\, 2026\, at Madisonville City Park. \nThe free\, family-friendly event will take place from 3 to 9 p.m.\, with live music\, tournaments\, vendor booths\, exhibits\, and community activities scheduled throughout the day. A car show will be held from 3 to 6 p.m.\, and military recruiting booths will be on site. The event will culminate in a free concert beginning at 6 p.m.\, headlined by Colt Ford. Special guest Sarah Beth Brewer will open the show. Organizers said the event is designed to bring the community together to celebrate service\, sacrifice\, and hometown pride. \nColt Ford has built a career outside the traditional Nashville system and has become one of country music’s most successful independent artists. The Georgia-born singer\, songwriter\, and rapper has earned five consecutive Top 10 debuts on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart\, including Declaration of Independence\, which reached No. 1 in 2012. His 2014 release\, Thanks for Listening\, also reached the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 and topped the Rap and Independent charts. Ford has charted multiple singles on the Hot Country Songs chart\, including “Back” featuring Jake Owen\, and received an Academy of Country Music nomination for “Cold Beer” with Jamey Johnson. With more than 3 million albums sold and over 1 billion streams\, he has collaborated with artists such as Toby Keith\, Brad Paisley\, Keith Urban\, and Jermaine Dupri. As a songwriter\, Ford co-wrote Jason Aldean’s No. 1 hit “Dirt Road Anthem” and Brantley Gilbert’s “Country Must Be Country Wide.” His music blends country\, hip-hop\, and rock influences and helped define the country rap genre. Early distilling—both legal and illicit—played a vital role in the region’s economy and survival\, while crafts like quilting\, blacksmithing\, woodworking\, and food preservation sustained families for generations. \nThe festival brings these traditions to life through demonstrations\, storytelling\, live music\, local food\, and hands-on heritage experiences\, creating an authentic celebration of Appalachian resilience and community. \nStorytelling is at the heart of the festival\, with scheduled sessions and special guest appearances\, including cast members from the Discovery Channel’s Moonshiners and other heritage voices who help bring Appalachian history and culture to life through personal stories and shared experiences. \nHillbilly BikeFest is a high-energy Saturday feature of the Beattyville Appalachian Memories Festival\, drawing motorcycle enthusiasts from across the region. The day centers around FRYDADDY’S Old School Bike Show for Charity\, a celebrity-judged\, open-class motorcycle show inspired by the large rally events like Sturgis. All bike styles and builds are welcome\, and judging is done blindly\, keeping the focus on craftsmanship and originality. Special appearances by well-known Moonshiners personalities add to the excitement\, creating a lively atmosphere that brings a strong\, engaged crowd to Main Street. Proceeds from the bike show benefit Shriners Hospital for Children. \nThe afternoon continues with the annual Shiners for Shriners Charity Ride\, a guided group ride along the Moonshine Trail through some of the best riding roads in eastern Kentucky. This ride has become a favorite tradition\, combining Appalachian backroads\, community camaraderie\, and a good cause. DESCRIPTION:Join us May 27th\, 2026 for Showman and Coole at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum! \nThrough twenty-five years and thousands of shows together in bands such as The Foggy Hogtown Boys and The Lonesome Ace Stringband\, John Showman and Chris Coole have developed a deep and instinctual musical bond. Their music lurks in a truly unique space that is somewhere on the outskirts of old-time\, bluegrass\, and folk. The songs of John Hartford\, Hank Williams\, Dock Boggs\, and The Band share space with the fiddle tunes of Eck Robertson and Ed Haley. The duo’s original songs and tunes take in all these vistas and paint something both personal and timely. \nThey have performed across North America and Europe at festivals such as Merlefest\, Rockygrass\, Winnipeg Folk Festival\, Mariposa\, Wintergrass\, Gooikroots\, and the John Hartford Memorial Festival. In 2022\, the duo released two albums; Afield a collection of old-time fiddle tunes\, and Much Further Out than Inevitable – A Tribute to Some Music of John Hartford. They are currently writing and releasing a steady stream of new and original singles and videos and have compiled this new music for a January 2026 release on CD and vinyl titled Big Wing.
