SUMMARY:J2B2 – John Jorgenson Bluegrass Band
DESCRIPTION:Join us on July 16\, 2026 for J2B2 – John Jorgenson Bluegrass Band! \nJ2B2 is an all-star bluegrass supergroup featuring four legendary\, award-winning musicians: John Jorgensonon acoustic guitar\, mandolin and vocals; Herb Pedersen on banjo\, acoustic guitar and vocals; Patrick Sauber on acoustic guitar and vocals; and Mark Fain on bass – delivering bluegrass like no one has ever heard it before. \nThe combination of forces by Jorgenson\, Pedersen\, Sauber\, and Fain form a spot-on union of impeccable musicianship\, incomparable songwriting\, incredible harmony vocals (a fresh twist combining bluegrass with elements of West Coast folk rock) and seasoned showmanship. This is the “high lonesome sound” of American roots music at its finest. \nJohn Jorgenson is a co-founder (with Herb Pedersen and Chris Hillman) of the formative country rock group Desert Rose Band. In 1990\, Jorgenson founded the Hellecasters and toured with Sir Elton John’s band for six years\, before later reuniting with John as lead guitarist for many European dates of the record-breaking Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour. An impressively eclectic range of artists including Sting\, Luciano Pavarotti\, Bonnie Raitt\, Billy Joel\, Barbra Streisand\, Bob Seger\, and Earl Scruggs have sought out Jorgenson to be part of their own recordings and/or performances. Music legends and guitar greats such as Tom Petty\, Peter Frampton\, Tommy Emmanuel\, Duane Eddy\, Joe Bonamassa and Brad Paisley have also sung Jorgenson’s praises. Jorgenson portrayed Django Reinhardt in the Hollywood feature film Head in the Clouds. In 2008\, Jorgenson won a GRAMMY® Award for Best Country Instrumental with Brad Paisley and was nominated for Best Bluegrass Album with Earl Scruggs. \nGRAMMY® Award Nominee Herb Pedersen is a former member of the Desert Rose Band\, legendary\nbluegrass band The Dillards and bluegrass super-group Old and In the Way\, among others. A soughtafter singer/songwriter\, musician\, and vocal arranger\, he has worked with such music legends as John\nFogerty\, Tom Petty\, Mudcrutch\, Chris Hillman\, Linda Ronstadt\, Jackson Browne\, Emmylou Harris\, Gram\nParsons\, Earl Scruggs\, Tony Rice\, Dan Fogelberg\, Kris Kristofferson\, John Prine\, Stephen Stills\, and\nJohn Denver. \nPatrick Sauber is a talented multi-instrumentalist who has quickly made a name for himself as a young\nperformer in the world of bluegrass\, folk\, western and old-time music. Equally adept on guitar\, mandolin\,\nbanjo and cajun accordion\, Sauber has played with Doc Watson\, Richard Greene\, Peter Rowan\, Tim\nO’Brien\, John Fogerty\, Laurie Lewis\, and John Reischman\, among others. Sauber played on the 2016\nGRAMMY®-nominated album The Hazel and Alice Sessions by Laurie Lewis and appeared in the film A\nMighty Wind with Christopher Guest. \nGRAMMY® Award-winning bassist and producer Mark Fain has recorded and performed with Bruce\nHornsby\, Dolly Parton\, Loretta Lynn\, Tom Petty\, John Oates\, Alan Jackson\, Ry Cooder\, John Fogerty\,\nChris Hillman\, Dwight Yoakam\, Alison Krauss\, Travis Tritt\, Joan Osborne\, The Chicks\, Martina McBride\,\nRosanne Cash\, Jack Black\, and Cody Johnson. Fain previously was a longtime member of Ricky Skaggs’\nband\, Kentucky Thunder. In addition to touring with J2B2\, Fain is a substitute player with the Grand Ole\nOpry house band in Nashville.

SUMMARY:Minnie Adkins Day
DESCRIPTION:Minnie Adkins Day 2026\nElliott County’s Minnie Adkins Day is ready to go again. We want to invite everyone to come to one of the biggest and best folk-art festivals in eastern Kentucky. It is an outdoor festival held at the Little Sandy Lodge in Sandy Hook\, Kentucky on July 18\, 2026.\nMinnie Adkins Day started in July of 2014 as a way to honor our local resident folk artist Minnie Adkins and her contributions to Elliott County\, Kentucky. It is a local arts and crafts market with music\, entertainment\, fun\, and food. It gives us the chance to honor someone who has done so much for our county and people in general. \nMinnie Adkins is one of the best-known folk woodcarving artists in Kentucky. She is adept at creating animal carvings and has given generous assistance to her various neighbors to help them in developing art careers of their own. Minnie is known for her red foxes\, bears\, possums\, tigers\, and roosters. Her figures are smoothly carved and painted\, and the animal faces are distinctive. Minnie also carves and paints scenes from the Bible\, but overall\, her favorite subjects are animals.\nTo many in Kentucky\, the twig roosters carved by Minnie Adkins are synonymous with the term “folk art.” She taught herself to carve as a child\, and it was not until 1987 that she realized that others might be interested in buying her work. Not only were others interested\, but the demand was so high that her husband\, Garland Linville Adkins\, began carving as well. Together the two artists created some of the most sought-after folk art in the country.\nAlthough Garland passed away in 1997\, Minnie Adkins continued to create a diverse range of art\, including pottery. In 1999 she married Herman Peters\, and almost immediately inspired him to become an artist as well! Peters made giant iron roosters\, among other things. After Herman’s death on June 6\, 2008\, Minnie again continued to create her folk art now assisted by her grandson\, Greg Adkins\, and her son Mike Adkins.\nShe has been featured in short documentary films\, videos\, and many publications. In the late 1980s\, Minnie and Garland founded “A Day in the Country”\, a folk-art fair that featured works by over 50 folk artists from Kentucky and many other states. The American Folk Art Museum\, The Smithsonian\, The National Gallery of Art and many more collect Minnie’s works. Many critics consider her one of the most important artists of the twentieth century. Minnie continues to carve her iconic figures and collaborate with author\, Mike Norris\, on his children’s books. Her home county\, Elliott\, has designated the 3rd Saturday in July as a day to honor and celebrate its own resident Folk Artist.\nIf you have never visited you are welcome to join us for one of the biggest folk-art festivals in Eastern Kentucky\, Elliott County’s Minnie Adkins Day. Always held on the third Saturday of July\, Minnie Adkins Day will be filled with lots of art\, both folk and fine\, traditional heritage inspired crafts\, food\, music\, and loads of fun. The spaces for Vendor setup are still just $10 and are open to artists and crafts persons from everywhere. There is no admission for guests to get in. So just come on in to look\, shop\, and just visit with us for a while. For more information go to our website: https//www.littlesandylodge.com or call us at 606-738-5515 or you can check the Minnie Adkins page on Facebook. We hope to see you there.

SUMMARY:Waveland's Tea Tuesday
DESCRIPTION:Waveland’s Tea Tuesday is one of those experiences that feel timeless—gracious\, unhurried\, and rooted in the spirit of Kentucky hospitality. Every Tuesday at 1 p.m.\, guests step through the doors of the mansion and immediately feel the shift in atmosphere. The rooms echo Victorian life and create the perfect setting for an afternoon meant to be savored. Guests start with savories\, then white chocolate cranberry scones with lemon curd and desserts that feel like a sweet punctuation mark to the afternoon. After tea\, everyone is invited on a guided tour of the mansion—an intimate walk through Kentucky’s antebellum past.

SUMMARY:Theatre at Centre: macbitches
DESCRIPTION:Theatre at Centre Presents \nMACBITCHES\nWritten by Sophia McIntosh\, directed by Dr. Jen Goff \nFebruary 12-14\, 7:30 p.m.\, Weisiger Theatre\nFebruary 15\, 2:00 p.m.\, Weisiger Theatre \n“What’s done cannot be undone” When a freshman acting major is unexpectedly cast as Lady Macbeth\, a few upperclassmen invite her over to celebrate. As the Fireball and Svedka flow\, the girls interrogate their own sense of ambition as well as the power structures that have shaped their education. \nA contemporary translation catapults the 1950s absurdist play into vivid\, living color\, and asks\, “If the thought of radical change scares you more than the thought of disaster\, what can you do to stop the disaster?” \nContent notifications: some mild language

SUMMARY:Waveland's Tea Tuesday
DESCRIPTION:Tea Tuesday has become a cherished ritual for: friends catching up\, mothers and daughters sharing a tradition\, small celebrations\, and travelers discovering Kentucky’s gentler side. There’s a warmth to it—a sense of stepping into a space where hospitality still matters and where history isn’t something you observe\, but something you feel. Docents in period dress move through the rooms\, serving 3 courses\, savories\, scones and sweets paired with Elmwood Inn fine tea. After tea\, guests enjoy a tour of the Victorian mansion. Call the park for reservations.

SUMMARY:Boeing Boeing (July 21-August 8)
DESCRIPTION:Boeing Boeing\nBy Marc Camoletti\nJuly 21-August 8\nBack by popular demand! Bernard is a self-styled 1960’s Paris lothario with an Italian\, German\, and American fiancée—each a gorgeous airline stewardess with frequent “layovers.” Bernard keeps “one up\, one down\, and one pending”—until a visit from an American friend and unexpected schedule changes make for a bumpy (and hilarious) ride! A high-flying madcap comedy! Rated PG
