  • Appliance Recycling Program
    Members can receive a $50 rebate for recycling an old, working refrigerator or freezer. Call 1-844-HAUL4ME (1-844-428-5463) and meet the following qualifications:
  • To qualify, the refrigerator or freezer:
    •Must be plugged in and working at the time of pickup.
    •Must be between 7.75-30 cubic feet.
    •Must be empty and waterlines disconnected.
    •Must have a clear pathway to access the unit.
    •Must be located on a first or second story (a basement is also permissible).
  • Button-Up Weatherization
    For addition of energy-efficient windows and doors and/or insulation; Level 1: $40 per 1,000 BTU saved, with a maximum of $520 per home, Level 1 w/Air Sealing: $40 per 1,000 BTU saved with a maximum of $750; Level 2: Full Button-Up Level 1 Air Seal incentive plus an additional $310 for a total of $1,060; Level 3: Full Button-Up Level 1 Air Seal incentive plus an additional $620 for a total of $1,370; homes must be electrically heated and more than two years old.
  • ENERGY STAR Appliance Rebate Program
    Members can receive rebates for the purchase of ENERGY STAR appliances as follows:
  • Refrigerator $100
    Freezer $50
    Dishwasher $50
    Clothes Washer $75
    Heat Pump Water Heater $300
    Air Source Heat Pump $300
    Central Air Conditioning $300
  • Heat Pump Retrofit
    Up to $1,000 rebate for replacement of resistance heat source (electric furnace, ceiling cable, or baseboard) with an energy-efficient heat pump (rebates for 13 SEER, 7.5 HSPF and higher).
  • Prepay
    Our prepay program allows you to monitor and adjust your daily energy usage and pay for energy BEFORE you use it. You can view your account balance and make a deposit anytime. No more deposits, no late fees, and no more monthly bill. Go to Prepay Service to learn more about this program.
  • Touchstone Energy Home
    Qualifying homes must meet program guidelines following one of three paths of approval: Prescriptive Path: $750 for new homes built to meet the Prescriptive Path checklist; Performance Path Level 1: $250 for new homes built to meet the requirements of the Performance Path Level 1; and Performance Path Level 2: $750 for new homes built to meet the requirements of the Performance Path Level 2; contact Shelby Energy for information on building requirements for this program.
  • SimpleSaver Program
    Qualifying homes must have a 40-gallon (minimum) electric water heating unit, central air conditioning, or heat pump unit. Water heaters $10 credit to the residential power bill of each participant per year (credit issued in the month of February); air conditioners and heat pumps $20 bill credit per air conditioner/heat pump unit. ($5 per summer month–June, July, August, and September). Special Program Incentive: up to $10 to new participants that install a load control switch; this is a one-time per switch, up to two switches, incentive. For more info see “SimpleSaver” article at top.
  • Online and In-Home Energy Audits
    Members can go on the Shelby Energy Web site and click on “BillingInsights” from our home page to complete an online home energy audit. You will need your Shelby Energy account number from your bill to complete the audit.
  • An extensive home energy audit is performed by our on-site energy advisor, and members can learn practical ways and places to improve the energy efficiency of their homes. This is a free service. Please call (800) 292-6585 to speak with an energy advisor about scheduling your audit.
  • ENERGY STAR Manufactured Home Program
    If you’re thinking of purchasing a new manufactured home, be sure to request the ENERGY STAR Manufactured Home Program to your salesperson. You may be eligible for an ENERGY STAR-certified upgrade at no additional cost. In most cases, manufactured homes installed in our co-op service territory may be upgraded to ENERGY STAR standards through this energy-efficiency program. Right now, that’s an average savings of about $1,100 each year or about $90 a month on your electric bill.
