12,000 service member thank-you notes

HOPKINSVILLE
Twelve thousand members of the Army’s 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell recently received thank-you notes for their service from members of Pennyrile Electric. Co-op board member Jim Riley suggested the idea, and the co-op enlisted the help of its 47,000-plus members to write special messages to the soldiers.

The board’s goal was to collect a minimum of 10,000 thank-you notes; members exceeded that by coming through with 12,000 cards. The co-op delivered an oversized sample of the card to Command Sgt. Maj. Gabriel A. Espinosa Jr. during a special ceremony at the co-op’s annual meeting.

“We owe so much to the men and women in the military,” says Greg Grissom, president and CEO of Pennyrile Electric. “This is just a small way that we, as a cooperative, can simply say: thank you!”
