Heather Bilyeu is Kentucky Living’s cooking columnist, as of March 2021. She is from Lexington, where she graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science in education and kinesiology. She now lives in Louisville, with her husband, Justin, and their dog, Rex.
Heather is the voice and creator behind the food blog, Fueling a Southern Soul, where she develops recipes, shoots recipe videos, does food photography and designs food-related content for other brands and clients.
She was raised in a proper southern Kentucky home where many of her greatest memories were shared around the family table. Her hope is that she can help people learn to entertain, cook and host people in their homes. She wants to show others that it doesn’t have to be messy or complicated, that your home doesn’t have to be picture perfect for you to invite others to sit at your table and love them through a meal and hospitality.
Heather has been a long-distance runner for 20 years and was a high school running coach and strength and conditioning coach for 10 years. She enjoys spending time with her husband and dog at home, and evenings on their back porch with a glass of wine.
