Jeptha Creed, Shelbyville
Owned and operated by the mother-daughter team of Joyce Nethery and Autumn Nethery, the $3 million Jeptha Creed Distillery in Shelbyville opened last November and produces vodka, honey-flavored vodka, an original and a lemonade-flavored moonshine, and farm-to-bottle bourbon. Grains from the family farm, including an heirloom corn named “Bloody Butcher” for its red color, make this distillery unique.
Autumn studied distilling in Scotland, but her bourbon won’t be ready until 2019.
The Nethery family’s 64-acre farm and distillery are easily accessed off Interstate 64, exit 32. Tours are $10 and currently include a tasting of all the vodka and moonshine flavors.
