One man embodies Wild Turkey and that’s longtime Master Distiller Jimmy Russell, nicknamed the “Buddha of Bourbon.” When you walk into the visitor center, you immediately see Russell plastered throughout the brand’s history. Sometimes, the legend himself gives the tours. If you’re so lucky (and perhaps you could request it in advance), a Jimmy Russell private tour is akin to Jimi Hendrix giving a guitar lesson or Michael Jordan showing you how to dunk. It’s the kind of “pinch yourself” moment that’s all too common in a Kentucky distillery.
