11 Mile Paddle South Fork KY River
A full day on the South Fork of the Kentucky River. Kayak, fish, swim, float, and snack along this 11 mile Kentucky River Water Trail. Check in 8am-9am at the Beattyville Boat Ramp, C Beach Ct, Beattyville, KY 41311. Load up kayaks into the trailer and load passengers in the van and be transported to the launch site at Fish Creek Ramp in Booneville.
All participants need to fill out a waver and pay a small fee. $20 per participant will cover event insurance and transport expenses. Bring your own kayak, canoe, or SUP boards.
About the South Fork River: Launching from the Fish Creek Ramp and traveling downstream, the river is shallow in spots with shoals of rocks at bends in the river and where creeks feed into the river. be prepared for shallow areas where you may need to walk your boat through. Mile 6-7 the river widens and becomes deeper. The last few miles into Beattyville, there may be a passing motorized boat. There is beautiful wildlife of fish and birds along the trip. We may even spot the bald eagle who fishies in the area.
Parking: Cars will be parked at the Beattyville Boat Ramp area for the day. Kayaks and Participants will be transported to the launch site in Booneville then paddle back to the parking area in Beattyville.
Kayaking: Leisure kayaking, there is no rush. The trip is 11 miles and will take 5-6 hours. Life vest are required by American Canoe Association: Risk Management Requirements for Affiliate Organizations. No alcohoic beverages.
Lunch: Pack your lunch and drinks and stop for a riverside lunch on the rocky shoal around mile 5.
Items to Pack: Sunscreen, big floppy hat, bug spray, sunglasses. (optional fishing gear, swim suit, inflatable floaties).
