“Kentucky Sentiments” Opening Reception

July 7, 2016 6:00 PM

Dancing light reflects upon the placid river as barges drift alongside the bustling cityscape. The rolling hills and fields of Kentucky are captured in full bloom on a blissful spring day. The Bluegrass State is brimming with awe-inspiring beauty. While the typical passerby may not give the splendor of the region much thought, Lynn Dunbar captures and shares these moments through her colorful oil paintings.

Kentucky Fine Art Gallery is pleased to announce the exhibition of new work by Lynn Dunbar in her upcoming solo exhibition, “Kentucky Sentiments.” You are invited to attend the opening reception July 7 from 6-9PM. The exhibition will be on view from June 3-July 31.

The artist’s style is influenced by Russian Impressionist Nicolai Timkov, and American Landscape painter William Wendt. Lynn Dunbar states “some of my favorite subjects are river scenes, plein air (on location), aerials of the local landscape, and nearby urban life. Besides participating in National Paint Outs, I have fun traveling around Kentucky and Indiana setting up my easel and painting plein air studies.”

Lynn Dunbar has participated in, and won awards for oil paintings and plein air competitions on the local and national level. Awards include the Award of Honor from Indiana Heritage Arts 2015, Grand Prize Portland Heritage Arts Show 2014, honorable mention at the Salon International 2013, the 2012 Purchase Prize from the Owensboro Museum of Art, and the 2011 Grand Prize from the Louisville Women’s Club. Her work is also featured in the new “Painting Indiana 3″ book, and “American Art Review.”
