Growing together

Sheila Asked

I am a volunteer gardener for Bourbon Heights JAC, in Bourbon County. Sometime this past Spring, I read something about a garden competition, or maybe an exhibit opportunity in KY and thus I write?

The garden thrived this year after the installation of automatic sprinklers, along with the work performed by our friends at JAC. The courtyard garden is blessed to receive donated plants, and other supplies to keep operational. Because of this, we thought it honoring if we took the garden to the next level.

Our clients are hard workers and plant, water, move, weed, and harvest this courtyard garden weekly, regardless of any limitations. We all find the space healing and inviting.

Looking forward to hearing from you, and thank you in advance for anything you can suggest.

The Gardener’s Answer

Hi Sheila, It sounds like you have a wonderful community garden that brings joy to a lot of people.  If you are looking for local garden tours or advice about adding to the courtyard, the horticulture/agriculture agents at the Bourbon County Cooperative Extension would be a great resource. Visit the website at: https://bourbon.mgcafe.uky.edu/ or call them at (859) 987-1895.
