Yew Dell Botanical Gardens expands

Yew Dell Botanical Gardens is celebrating 20 years of community impact with a year full of activities and exciting growth- including the kick-off of the popular Bourbon & Botanicals Summer Music Series presented by Kentucky Artisan Distillery! Starting July 7, enjoy eight nights of amazing music each Thursday throughout July and August. Public Relations and Marketing Manager Manda Barger says, “In these 20 years, we have built a strong and purposeful organization, rehabilitated the National Register-listed buildings and grounds, and created internationally recognized plant collections, gardens, education programs, plant evaluation research, and a nursery that sells the very best garden plants available.”

July 7 also marks the opening of Martha Lee’s Kitchen! It’s named in honor of Martha Lee Klein, who played an essential role in the success of Yew Dell Farm & Nursery in several ways, including providing hospitality to guests, friends, and family alike. Visitors can find that same hospitality as Martha Lee’s Kitchen offers sandwiches, snacks, drinks, and more while visiting Thursday nights from 5 – 8 PM during Bourbon & Botanicals then throughout the season on Fridays and Saturdays 11 AM – 3 PM and Sundays 12 – 3 PM.

Bourbon & Botanicals isn’t the only event to look forward to at Yew Dell. The Children in the Dell series continues every Saturday in July from 10:30 AM – 12 PM along with participating in Cultural Pass on select days. There is a full schedule of other events that commemorate the 20-year anniversary and further their mission to “spark a passion for plants and gardening through accessible science and inspiring beauty.”

Yew Dell recently announced its $5 million capital campaign to transform the area around the iconic Yew Dell castle. “We are in an exciting time of seeing projects like our evaluation gardens grow while returning to a ‘new normal’ of family-based and children’s programming this summer,” says Barger. “And we’ve broken ground on a project that reflects our growth along our woodland trail. Every day, we are directed by our mission: Spark a passion for plants and gardening through accessible science and inspiring beauty.” Learn more at www.yewdellgardens.org
