Apple Festival Time

When fall is in the air, the apples are hanging ripe on the trees. The Bedford community celebrates the season by welcoming more than 10,000 visitors to their 15th annual Trimble County Apple Festival on September 10-11.

A highlight of the festival is the Trimble Thimbles quilt display of fine hand-stitched quilts along with a quilt raffle. A variety of vendors include festival foods (apple dumplings of course), arts and crafts, and antique collectibles.

Saturday festivities begin at 9 a.m. You can join in the fun by entering the Apple Pie Contest—$100 cash prize for first place, $50 second place, and $25 third place—but make sure you get contest rules by calling (502) 268-3483.

Live music includes the Louisville Dulcimer Society on Saturday morning, along with several bands playing in the afternoon.

Children will enjoy Grady the Clown and an apple relay race on Saturday, along with a children’s craft area and games both days.

The festival continues on Sunday at noon, with live music throughout the day, an antique tractor show, followed by an apple cider relay race for adults.

The event is rain or shine and there is no admission fee. For more information, call (502) 268-3912 or go online to www.trimblecounty.com.
