Glowing Holiday Gala At Fort Harrod

Start your holiday season by stepping back in time at Old Fort Harrod’s Holiday Gala, November 19-20, at Old Fort Harrod State Park in Harrodsburg.

A real family event, the park glows with more than 1,000 soft-white luminaries lining the paths. You’ll enjoy a guided candlelit tour of the 18th-century fort replica, complete with furnished cabins, blockhouses, and a gift shop stocked with affordable items.

The 19th-century Victorian Mansion, professionally decorated in evergreens, holly, fruit garlands, and magnolia, also features a Christmas Tree Festival, including Evergreen, the talking tree. There are holiday exhibits throughout the two-story museum.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand to meet all visitors, young and old. Make a stop in the dining room to taste some tempting refreshments. Holiday music will fill the air, inside and out, from carolers.

Fort Harrod’s Holiday Gala hours are 6-9 p.m. each evening. Purchase tickets the night you attend, at the park office, or the museum. Tickets are $3 for adults, $2 for children ages 6-12, children under 6 admitted free.

For more information, contact the park at (859) 734-9614 or go on the Web to http://parks.ky.gov/ftharrd2.htm.
