To Market, To Market To Buy Arts And Crafts

Kentucky Crafted: The Market is the once-a-year, premiere showcase where wholesale buyers as well as the public can purchase unique Kentucky-made arts and crafts and other products such as books, musical recordings, and Kentucky Proud specialty food.

The public can attend on Saturday and Sunday, March 8-9, while there are wholesale-only days for retailers who come from Kentucky and across the nation to buy on Thursday and Friday, March 6-7.

If you’ve never attended Kentucky Crafted: The Market, you should. You will be amazed at the creativity and uniqueness of offerings that have been handmade by Kentucky artisans. More than 300 exhibitors will be on hand, where visitors will be able to buy newly created items, with a wide range of prices from very affordable to expensive.

Highlights of the 2008 Market include “Made to be Played: Traditional Art of Kentucky Luthiers,” a museum-quality exhibition celebrating 16 master craftspeople who make stringed instruments; a “Designer Showcase” with Kentucky-made products for the home in a home setting designed by University of Kentucky College of Design students; and “Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Product Showcase,” featuring handmade items commemorating Lincoln and reproductions of authentic crafts of the Lincoln era.

Kentucky Crafted: The Market will again be held at the Kentucky Exposition Center, South Wing B, in Louisville. Admission for the public is $8 for adults, children 15 and under free, and parking is $5. The Market is open Saturday 9 a.m.–6 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.–5 p.m. For a $1 off admission coupon and more information, go online to www.kycraft.ky.gov or call (888) 833-2787.
