Dixie Belle Riverboat
April heralds the start of Dixie Belle riverboat cruises—offered by Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, Harrodsburg—down the scenic Kentucky River along the Palisades’ high limestone cliffs and under High Bridge, built in 1877, the tallest railroad bridge in the nation over a navigable stream. One-hour narrated cruises describe the river’s diverse ecosystem and its historical importance to the Shakers. Rides depart at Shaker Landing daily April 28-October 28, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., weather permitting. Tickets are $10, age 13 and over; $5 ages 6-12; free for 5 and under.
