Chocolate Cherry Upside Down Cake

Ingredients

  • 2-1/4 cups flour
  • 1-1/2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup cocoa
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1-1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup cooking oil
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 can cherry pie filling

Directions

Spread pie filling in a greased 9×13 inch pan.

In a large bowl mix flour, sugar, cocoa, soda and salt.

In another bowl mix water, oil, vinegar and vanilla.

Add liquid mixture to dry mixture and stir just to moisten.

Pour batter over cherries.

Bake at 350° for 35 minutes.

Cool 10 minutes in the pan.

Invert onto large platter. Top with whipped topping.
