Fruit And Nut Drops

  • Makes 7 dozen.


  • 3 1/2 C all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 sticks unsalted butter
  • 1 1/4 C light brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 C chopped walnuts, plus walnut halves for garnish
  • 1/2 C currants or chopped candied pineapple
  • 1/4 C sour cream
  • 1/4 C milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 C green candied cherries, chopped
  • 2 C chopped dates


Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Sift together flour, baking soda, and salt and set aside. Cream butter and brown sugar in a large bowl. Beat in eggs, sour cream, milk, and vanilla. Mix well. Stir in dry ingredients, fruits, and nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls on lightly greased cookie sheets, rounding mounds. Garnish with walnut halves. Bake 12 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on board, paper, or foil. Freezes well.
