Toad in the Hole

Ingredients

  • Sausages
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 cup 2% milk or 1% will work too
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1 onion

Directions

Put everything but the onion in a mixing bowl and mix well until bubbles form on top Set aside and leave for 30 minutes.

Brown sausages if using raw Preheat oven to 425 Put a thin layer of veg oil in the pan and heat it until very hot (a little smoky) After 30 minutes stir the batter mix a couple of times.

Remove pan and immediately put in sausages and batter mix, this will sizzle a lot This step needs to be done quick to keep everything hot Bake for approx. 40 minutes until risen and golden brown Serve with sliced onion, mash potatoes and brown gravy.
