Bourbon Apple Crisp

Ingredients

  • Apple Filling:
  • 6 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
  • ¼ C bourbon
  • ¼ C sugar
  • ¼ C brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp salt Juice from ½ lemon
  • Oat Topping:
  • ½ C old-fashioned oats
  • ½ C flour
  • ¼ C brown sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 4 Tbsp cold butter, cut into small cubes

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9×9-inch baking dish. In large bowl, mix all apple filling ingredients and toss until apples are well coated. Spread evenly in prepared dish. In separate bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt. Cut in cold butter with a pastry cutter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle oat topping evenly over apples. Bake 40–45 minutes, until topping is golden and filling is bubbly. Cool slightly and serve warm with vanilla ice cream. Serves 6.
